Scope and content
This collection documents the activities of the Tundra Times Newspaper from 1962 until it ceased publication in 1997. The collection includes copies of all issues and special editions published by the newspaper, 15,000 black and white photographs taken by the newspaper photographers, and the administrative files of the organization.

COPYRIGHT STATUS OF THE TUNDRA TIMES PHOTOGRAPH COLLECTION: It is assumed that photographs contained in the Tundra Times Photograph Project database are not in the public domain. Patrons need to be aware of the several kinds of rights which might apply: copyright, donor restrictions, privacy rights, publicity rights, licensing and trademarks. It is the patron's obligation to determine and satisfy copyright or other use restrictions when downloading, publishing or otherwise distributing materials found in the Library's collections.

Custodial history
The Ukpeagvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) of Barrow acquired the Tundra Times Newspaper Records after the newspaper ceased publication in 1997, including the archives and copyrights, and a photograph collection that consists of negatives and over 15,000 black and white prints. In 1998 the collection was turned over to the Tuzzy Consortium Library.
